Compare the economics of Amazon fulfillment with your own fulfillment method. This tool uses the fees and cost estimates you enter, so you can model a product before committing to a fulfillment choice. It does not perform an ASIN lookup or retrieve Amazon fees.

How to use this calculator

Start with revenue per unit, product cost, effective referral fee, and advertising cost. Enter FBA fulfillment, inbound, placement, storage, and other allocations. For FBM, enter shipping, packaging, labor, and other per-unit costs. Use Amazon’s official estimates and your own carrier rates as inputs.

Formula and assumptions

Contribution per sale = seller revenue − product cost − referral fee − fulfillment costs − advertising. FBA and FBM use the same product economics but their own fulfillment costs. Break-even ACoS uses contribution before advertising divided by seller revenue.

Worked example

At a $40 price, $12 product cost, 15% effective referral fee, and $4 advertising, $18 remains before fulfillment. Entered FBA costs of $7 produce $11 contribution; entered FBM costs of $9.50 produce $8.50. FBA contributes $2.50 more under those assumptions.

Common questions

Are the default numbers official Amazon fees?

No. They are example inputs. Replace them with the estimates for your product and marketplace, including relevant fee minimums or adjustments in your entered allocations.

Does higher contribution decide which method to use?

It is one input. Delivery experience, inventory availability, operational capacity, and other business factors also matter. This comparison excludes unentered fixed overhead and income tax.
